Al Barr knows the impact good and bad press has on a reputation. That’s a result of his 25+ years of experience as a corporate spokesman and media strategist for many of the world’s top companies, including Nokia, Sprint, and pharmaceutical giants, Merck and Pfizer, as well as some of the nation’s largest trade associations and government agencies— from the Tobacco Institute to the Internal Revenue Service, and the U.S. Department of Treasury.
He has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and Forbes, and on-air at the BBC, CNN, FOX News, and NPR. His skill set also includes a distinguished reporting career at the Dow Jones National Observer.
Al brings his extensive expertise to all of Carrier’s client training, coaching executives on ways to out-think a competitor or side-step the media. Whether the issue is corporate governance, marketplace barriers, or a government regulatory hurdle, Al’s insights and flawless media instincts prepare clients to relay their key messages to the media and at Congressional investigations, industry conferences, and executive meetings.
Al is also the founder of CARMA, a news coverage evaluation and measurement research firm operating worldwide, where he has worked with hundreds of global clients to assess and set strategies to boast a company’s products and reputations and at Washington’s largest advertising and PR agency, Henry J. Kaufman & Associates. A political consultant, as well, Al worked on the presidential campaign of George H.W. Bush, sharing this added expertise with clients in the political sector.
